Confusion Moderne with DTCV - An Interview

photos: Mike Postalakis

Pop brutalmente sofisticado, simplesmente delicioso

Q. When did DTCV start? Tell us about the history...
We started a couple years ago when Lola and James met at a party in Los Angeles and discovered their mutual love for Black Sabbath and Jean-Luc Godard. Lola had a bunch of songs, and James really liked her songs. We played a few shows live, had a blast, destroyed a few guitars, and decided to keep going.

Q: Who are your influences?
Vivienne Westwood, Genesis P-Orridge, Henrik Ibsen…the list is endless, really.

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
In no particular order
WIRE Pink Flag
DAVID BOWIE Berlin Trilogy
ARTHUR & THE CROWD Feelings Mutual
SAM SAM SAM We are Sam Sam Sam
MARY SHELLEY The Lost Tapes

Q. How do you feel playing live?
We usually don’t remember it because of a combination of adrenaline and alcohol. Afterwards we often discover unexplained bruises all over our bodies.

Q. How do you describe DTCV´s sounds?
Brutalist pop.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
We go into the studio and record everything as quickly as possible so as to keep the cost down. CONFUSION MODERNE was made in less than three days.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Footling, Dream Wife, Sea Rocket, MC Jammz, Sky City, Lola Violence

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We would like to do a cover of Complete Portion Control’s cover of Swell Map’s cover of the Little Richard song "Get Down and Get With It."

Q: What are your plans for the future?
Touring and recording forever and ever and ever. Also, make wine.

Q: Any parting words?
Thank you and goodnight!! Also thanks for taking the time to interview us. We would love to play Brazil someday! It’s one of our obsessions.
