Beachfront with Hero Shima - An Interview


E pós punk continua gerando ótimos rebentos, sempre nos subterrâneos, porque no mainstream basicamente tudo que é feito é pré fabricado, aliás, sempre, e uma das mecas dessas ebulição de bandas é atualmente a Itália, seja pós punk, shoegaze, ou qualquer outro estilo, os italianos estão com alguma coisa especial em suas águas.

Quem desembarca aqui nas páginas do TBTCI é o trio Hero Shima, pós punk classudo, duro, curto e grosso, algo como se o Interpol fosse plugado no 220 volts com fortes doses de PIL e Magazine, um pós punk muito além do que usualmente ouvimos por aí.

A urgência e a esquizofrenia melódia do Hero Shima credencia os caras a um dos mais promissores grupos do gênero que já ouvi por aí.

Q1. When did Hero Shima start? Tell us about the history...
Hero Shima were born in late 2014. Casually, one day we met and then we started to play the music that we like the most, that's all. Things have happened in a very simple way.

Q2: Who are your influences?
We've got many types of influences. Most are Punk and Post-punk bands such as Interpol, PIL, Killing Joke, Buzzcocks, Magazine, Placebo, Joy Division, but we also like other musical styles, as Surf-Rock, Indie and Post-Rock.

Q3. Make a list of 5 albums of all time…
- David Bowie “Low”
- Killing Joke “Killing Joke”
- Soundgarden “Superunknown”
- Interpol “Turn On The Bright Lights”
- Magazine “Real Life”

Q4. How do you feel playing live?
The power of music is amazing, it makes us feel into a completely new dimension. Every gig is a special experience.

Q5. How do you describe Hero Shima sounds?
Vintage, anxious and minimal. It's like an uncontrollable urge that we must communicate through our songs.


Q6: Tell us about the process of recording the songs?
We recorded our first EP playing together in the same room, then we mixed it with analog equipment. We are very satisfied with it.

Q7. Which new bands do you recommend?
Zombiero Martìn, Quiet Pig, Dora Maar, Zambra, Ermes.

Q8: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
Marvin Berry & The Starlighters - “Earth Angel”
Devo - “Mongoloid”

Q9: What are your plans for the future?
We would like to play live and maybe record new stuff. We've got a lot of new exciting songs.
