I Want To Exist with The Ambient Light - An Interview

***** Interview with The Ambient Light *****

Q. When did The Ambient Light start? Tell us about the history…
Oh man, I don't even know anymore. TAL has been an ongoing art project for years now, it will probably go on forever. well, probably not forever, but you know. This rendition of the band has been going on since 2014 and we just dropped our new full length album "I Want to Exist".

Q: Who are your influences?
Movies like Waking Life, Enter the Void, Eternal Sunshine and Music from The Beatles, Broken Social Scene, Deerhunter, unknown mortal orchestra, the list goes on...

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Broken Social Scene - you forgot it in people
Third Eye blind - Self-titled
Takagi Masakatsu - Journal for People
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
The Beatles - any album

Q. How do you feel playing live?
Hmmm, a bit euphoric? It's hard to describe but a 45 min set of music seems to fly by in about 5 minutes.

Q. How do you describe The Ambient Light sounds?
A cosmic collaboration of psychedelic rhythms, ambient tones, and dreamy build ups. It's like tripping in the rain on a Sunday morning or lucid dreaming your way through nostalgic memories.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
All of the songs start off as demos and from there we slowly replace the instruments with a refined performance. As we continue to add layers the personality and essence of the song starts to become more clear. Since we record everything at home we often can take days, weeks, or months to finish a track, but that's part of the fun.

Q. Which new bands do you recommend?
Have you heard of Boogarins? They are from Brazil! Also, there are so many great bands killing it here in California right now. Check out Fine Minds, VIS, Electric Parlor, Bad Form, The
Sahns, WarCheif, New Manners, Beach Bums and Jurassic Shark.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We've always talked about the idea of covering Someday by Sugar Ray

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A lot of shows to support our new album as well as some music videos. We'll also be dropping some new tunes this summer!

Q: Any parting words?
