Ecstasy Symphony with Slow White - An Interview

Com o lema Drug Music Made By People On Drugs o quinteto de Los Angeles, Slow White remete diretamente ao grande e seminal Spacemen 3 com seu Taking Drugs To Make Music TO Take Drugs To.

Prediletos do TBTCI é lógico.

***** Interview with Slow White *****

Q. When did Slow White started, tell us about the history...
Slow White is a band i started about a year ago in los angles, it has been a revolving cast of muscians with my self (reed palmer) the only constant member.

Q: Who are your influences?
I am heavily influcened by 60's bands like July, Syd Barrett and world psych such as Las Grecas, indian sitar music and afro beat music. I combine this with my love of Spacemen 3 and any type of drone music western and eastern. also LSD

Q. Make a list of 5 albuns of all time…
1.Pipers at the Gates of Dawn-pink Floyd
2. July - July
3. Gandalf - Gandalf
4. Spacemen 3- taking drugs to make music to take drugs to
5. 13th floor elevators - bull of the woods
6. Spiritualized - LAdies and Gentlemen we are floating in Space

Q. How do you feel playing live?
We love playing live, i feel like i enter a different place and emerge at the end of the set, almost like time traveling we are constantly changing and doing new versions of songs, we play our music like jazz, a 4 min song can easly be made in to 10 min song if we are feeling the right groove and this is the most fun part about playing live the unplanned moments.

Q. How do you describe Slow White sounds?
I would describe our sound as a combination of 60s garage beats and drone guitars with indian influenced riffs. we are not a 60s throw back band all though we are influenced by it, i feel we are a modern band, soaked in acid. Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ? The procces of recording songs on the music up on our band camp, I tracked and played with the band live we recorded all analog onto a 4 track cassette machine. we would track everything then overdub vocals. it took me about 3 days to track and mix. we also released 30 tapes of a record that is not available online or anywhere of another album we recorded in a weekend, Q. Which new bands do you recommended? We recommend bands like Holy Wave, The Turns , Levitation Room, The cosmonuats, HOTT MT and Drinking FLowers who are all friends and part of the LA scene here.

Q: Which band would you love to made a cover version of?
We play the Byrds song 8 miles high live all the time, also intersteller overdrive is a fun song to cover. on our band camp we have a cover of The Hallow Body song Tangled

Q: What´s the plans for future....
We are heading out on a west coast tour in the next few weeks, we are releasing a 7" with All Welcome Records soon and are planning on releasing a full length this year as well. Playing shows and festivals all over California and hopefully doing a US tour this summer.

Q: Any parting words?
As far as parting words go id like to say how honored i am that people in Brazil have found the music and are enjoying it Slow White is a true independent band, we dont have a suit backing us with his bread, we get things on our own and that is the vibe we exist on. Also would like to say that we would love to come and play brazil and enjoy such a great country.
