Deluxe with Elastic Sleep - An Interview

***** Interview with Elastic Sleep ******

Q. When did Elastic Sleep started, tell us about the history...
We started playing live about 18 months ago in Cork, where we are all living here in Ireland. Some of us had played together in bands before so we sort of gravitated towards each other when we felt like playing a certain type of music. I had a premonition about the band forming six months before we did so that may have been a deciding factor.

Q: Who are your influences?
Anna Pavlova, David Cronenberg, Questlove, Angelo Badalamenti, USAISAMONSTER

Q. Made a list of 5 albuns of all time…
Bee Gees - Spirits Having Flown,
Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!,
Twin Peaks OST,
Factory Floor - Self Titled,
Broadcast - Haha Sound

Q. How do you feel playing live?
I often hear people talking about 'being' and 'living' in the present moment, performing live is when I think I am the closest to feeling that; but not for very long.

Q. How do you describe Elastic Sleep´s sounds?
Chaotic at times. I would call it a sorrowful sound with a lot of energy. Lately it has been sounding somewhat apocalyptic; we're trying to create our own world together and sometimes that can be loud and tempestuous. We probably sound like a rock band though.

Q: Tell us about the process of recording the songs ?
For our first few singles and our EP we recorded ourselves in our studio. We went a bit mad but took our time with the EP to get the feeling right and enjoy ourselves. Also I was sick and not able to single for a while. Our most recent single was recorded by a friend of ours named Brendan Fennessey who drums in a great band called O Emperor who also live here in Cork.

Q. Which new bands do you recommended?
Girl Band will knock your socks off.

Q: Which bands you love to made a cover version?
End of the World - Skeeter Davis or Are You Lonesome Tonight by Elvis Presley

Q: What´s the plans for future....
Currently working on our next release and getting ready to gig again. We are very anxious to travel and play a lot of music this year so we are investing in a rabbits foot collectively and maybe a few ferry tickets.
Q: Any parting words?
I used to hustle; now all I do is relax and strive.
